The Australian features young women who attended the 1998 Constitutional Convention and who continue to play an active part in the debate on the November 6 referendum. Mia Handshin, a law student and 1999 Young South Australian of the Year, writes supporting the YES case: “We have the opportunity to play a significant part in shaping our nation’s future” while a spokesperson for Australians for a Constitutional Monarchy, Sophie Panopoulos, a barrister from Melbourne, says she has been converted from republicanism: “The ARM insults debate by masking republicanism as nationalism”.
