Newspoll survey published in The Australian shows that 61% of women, compared with 51% of men questioned (1200 in city and country locations) had not read or were unaware of the preamble. In total, 22% approved and 17% disapproved of the wording. 20% of women completely approved or approved with reservations (six and 14 percent respectively).
