Senator Meg Lees, Leader of the Australian Democrats was reported in the The Canberra Times as saying that she supports the revised wording suggested for the referendum question which clearly states that the aim of the change is to replace the Queen and the Governor-General with an Australian President agreed by two-thirds majority of the Federal Parliament following a public nomination process. This is similar to the wording believed to have been recommended by the Joint Select Committee of the Federal Parliament inquiring into the legislation for the referendum which included the wording of the question.
