Mr Getano Lui, chair of the Torres Strait Islands Coordinating Council urges his people to boycott the referendum in protest against Australia’s failure to heed the demands of the people of the Torres Strait for autonomy. The islands of the Torres Strait have been threatening to secede from Australia since 1988.
