Maria Crowley, described as a mother of seven in The Canberra Times, has been participating in a survey of three swinging voters over the last few weeks on the local ABC radio station. Katharyn Heagney reports that Maria was originally leaning towards NO because, “she was reluctant to change for change’s sake” and that she did not want another America with “the one big man at the top backed by all the money.” Maria said she felt initially ill-informed because of all the political jargon. She has now decided to vote YES influenced by media reports of the NO campaign’s “manipulation” of the referendum question in an effort to “divide republicans”.
