Reko Rennie Comments on a Head of State Visit/Craig Foster on the 2024 Visit

Quoted in an interview in The Saturday Paper: “When Queen Elizabeth II visited Melbourne, Rennie – who is Indigenous – was contacted by the Premier’s Department to ask if he would like to attend a ceremony and, as a notable artist, meet her. ‘I was just like, fuck no. I’ve got better things to do. I’m not going to waste my time hanging out with the symbol of colonialism. How ridiculous.'”

This time around, recently departed ARM co-chair Craig Foster has made it public (exTwitter 5 October) that he had declined an invitation from the NSW Premier to attend a Community BBQ in the presence of His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty Queen Camilla on 18 October in Western Sydney saying that he looks forward “to being ‘in the presence of’ our first Aussie Head of State when we put our big pants on, as a country”.
