Royal Apology to First Nations?

Henry Reynolds says the forthcoming royal tour provokes many considerations as the “global reconsideration of the legacy of centuries of European imperialism, of slavery, Indigenous dispossession and economic exploitation represents the latest manifestation of the long process of decolonisation.” He calls for King Charles III to make an apology to Indigenous Australians while in the country in October. Others, including correspondents to The Canberra Times and on social media, went further and suggested our Head of State to give an unscripted interview, ie speak to his people/subjects, while he is here on the same topics as well as address his role in the 1975 sacking of the Whitlam Labor Government by this mother’s onshore representative acting in the name of the Australia’s then Queen. WfaAR comment: this is an important step for Reconciliation and, eventually, for advancing the Australian Republic of equals with all participating in its creation.
