Call for Republic instead of Indigenous Constitutional Recognition

East Arnhem Land leaders call for Australia to become a Republic. They claim that removing the Queen would be more meaningful to Indigenous people than constitutional recognition and call for significant – not symbolic – new change to Australia’s system of government to better empower the nation’s First Peoples. This is a good development and WfaAR hopes to see more of it from Indigenous leaders in both the NT and elsewhere.
