Of the 11 candidates, only two were women and both were elected being prominent National Council members over the last couple of years. One is the 2024-2026 Co-chair, Esther Anatolitis, the other is former Youth Convenor, Yasmin Poole. The remaining four spots were filled by men. This is is a small elected National Council of six members especially from the high profile 2022 to 2024 Council that had the maximum of 10 elected members. The full Council is made up of seven elected members (with the Youth Convenor) and the eight State\/Territory branch convenors. Only one of the current convenors is female (Beth O&#8217;Leary in NSW) so that means National Council is short on women with only 3 of the fifteen members female (20 percent). ARM needs to review its recruitment and talent-spotting practices in a dedicated attempt to ensure that it is properly covering the interests of more than 50 percent of the population and one voting segment that isn&#8217;t majority in favour or even close. On another note, former Tasmanian convenor, Wendy Le Cornu was recently made a Life Member.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The results of the 2026 ARM National Council Election is announced.
