He reminded us that the oath at Eureka was &#8220;we&#8221; not &#8220;I&#8221; and that the current flag equals &#8216;dominion&#8217; and the current Constitution and preamble &#8216;possession&#8217; ie words and symbols do\u00a0matter.\u00a0He foresees\u00a0the Australian Republic\u00a0as an essential equality of citizens; using social wealth\u00a0to create the\u00a0nation; welfare and philanthropy as &#8220;service&#8221;. He\u00a0referred to\u00a0the letters of Adelaide Ironside,\u00a0our first publicly\u00a0known\u00a0female republican\u00a0&#8211; look right &#8211;\u00a0and consort of Daniel Henry Deniehy who had a\u00a0unique take on\u00a0Australia as a\u00a0republican meritocracy. This was a repeat\u00a0of the Deniehy\u00a0Oration given in Goulburn\u00a0on 28 October.
