This particular elected monarchy was that chosen by the Norweigan parliament on behalf of the people&nbsp;in 1905 when the country&nbsp;claimed its&nbsp;independence from Sweden and selected a Danish prince to become its&nbsp;King. His descendants, now up to the third male monarch, have reigned over Norway ever since.
